War Memorial

On Sunday 14th November 2010 (Remembrance Sunday) Corston's War Memorial, which stands in the churchyard, was rededicated by Revd Richard Hall at the conclusion of a packed Remembrance Service held in the church. At the service local soldier Tom Harrison (Royal Marines 40 Commando) who has completed 3 tours in Afghanistan read a poem, and the congregation also saw a short film "Afghan Heroes", a tribute to the fallen repatriated via Wootton Bassett, featuring the City of Bath Bach Choir's children's section singing "Forever Young". Martin Seymour, who lives in the village, has researched the biographies of the men of Corston who lost their lives in the two world wars and whose names appear on the war memorial. The results of Martin's researches are here, together with some photographs of the rededication ceremony.
